Corrections of certain diplomas
The programme administration have become aware of errors in the calculation of averages of certain diplomas.  All entered grades are correct, but the average is in certain cases calculated incorrectly.
The problem has arisen in a few cases, where the student has chosen optional subjects offered by other programmes. These optional subjects have to be 'borrowed' via a somewhat complicated procedure into the student's own programme regulation. During this procedure it happened that the grade was not included in the average. Only with thorough understanding of the programme regulation is it possible to recognise that the average is incorrect (please refer to attached review for further elaboration of the technical procedure).
The programme administration has now checked all diplomas from November 2008 until today, i.e. from the time the present programme administrative IT system was put into service. Out of the 10,000 diplomas issued during this period, a total of 83 diplomas are flawed. Typically, it is a matter of a minor discrepancy, as the majority of deviations constitute a change of average of 0.1.
The programme administration will without delay forward new, corrected diplomas to all graduates, who have received an average too low. The graduates, who have received a diploma with an average calculated too high will not be contacted, as it is deemed they have a prescriptive right, which cannot be revoked subsequently. (for further elaboration, please see explanatory statement attached).
As for the future, existing internal checking procedures have now been tightened, and additionally, individual checking in connection with issuing of diplomas have been imposed.
The corrected diplomas will be sent out beginning of January 2012. If you think your diploma is flawed and you have not received the replacement by the end of January, please contact Annette Juhl Hansen on ajh.stu@cbs.dk. Should you have any other questions concerning the above, please feel free to contact Rie Snekkerup on rsn.stu@cbs.dk or Wilbert van der Meer on wm.edu@cbs.dk
