Prices & Payment

Accomodation Blend

This section will provide you with important information about prices and payment procedures for your accommodation.

You will find general information about semester dates; payment dates and procedures for students living in Student Residences. General information for students living in Private Housing is at the bottom of this page.

Please note: When your accommodation is arranged through CBS, you are responsible for paying rent for the whole semester. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Student Residences
Under each address you will find specific details on prices.

Dates when student residences are available:

Semester

Dates

Spring Semester

January 15 - June 18

Autumn Semester

August 14 - December 30

It is very important that you keep all the receipts from your payments for future reference! Unfortunately mistakes sometimes happen in the administration process and solving the matters is much easier if you can provide the right documentation.

Rent
The rent is due on the following dates:

Spring Semester

Dates

1st Installment and Deposit

18 days after you lock allocation

2nd Installment

April 1, 2010

Autumn Semester

Dates

1st Installment and Deposit

August 1

2nd Installment

October 1

Deposit

Prior to your arrival you pay a deposit of DKK 3000. Your deposit will be refunded after your departure, if your room is left in a satisfactory condition and no damage has been done to the inventory.

Your Bank Information

As soon as you know to which bank account you want CBS to return your housing deposit (the DKK 3,000 minus outstanding payments and fees), you are encouraged to supply the bank account details online – in the same system as you applied (you click on any of the links in the e-mails you have received to return to the process).

It is important that you precisely and correctly enter your bank information – if you succeed to specify it correctly, and if the transfer goes through on the first attempt, CBS will reward you with a DKK 100 “success fee”, which will be topped up on the transfer.

If your bank information is incomplete or incorrect, and the transfer does not go through on the first attempt, you will be charged a DKK 500 Bank Information Service Fee so as to find out (together with you) what your bank information is.

The online system helps you specify the correct bank information. Be sure to use the validation channels made available to you.

Links are provided to assist in validating as much as possible. If in doubt, always ask your bank.

The bank must be able to receive international bank transfers directly – corresponding / intermediary banks are only supported if the tenant is willing to pay a fee for it to CBS. Please prepare an account in a bank that supports this (or pay the DKK 500 Bank Information Service Fee to CBS + required bank fees of the corresponding bank, if the money must be transferred to a bank without the transfer capability)

What Bank information must I provide to get my deposit back?

  • A SWIFT code is required for banks to make international money transfers. SWIFT codes are even for US banks that often use Routing Numbers, but the SWIFT code will lower the bank fees. All banks around the world have SWIFT codes. SWIFT codes can be validated online.
  • Your bank account number must be accurate
  • Your bank address [many countries require an exact match, so get the correct info from the bank about your branch information]
  • USA Accounts also require Routing Number. This can be validated online.
  • Canadian accounts: The system offers assistance in building the correct bank account structure, but the actual number cannot be validated online.
  • European bank accounts (IBAN – which is supported in some non-European countries as well): The bank account number (IBAN) can be validated online.
  • If using a Danish bank account: CBS’ bank requires the use of the Danish option, where the bank account is not validated, but the structure (Reg.No + Acct. No) is checked. Beware if using a Danish bank account: a Danish CPR number is required, and it must be supplied into the solution by re-submitting the step “Applicant Information” with the CPR number field filled. If the bank account is held by another person than the Student, the bank account holder’s CPR number must be supplied, and this will involve manual intervention by CBS and as a result a levy of the Bank Information Service Fee of DKK500.

Private Housing

Accomodation Blend

With a private housing accommodation, the tenancy agreement is drawn up between you and your landlord/lady. The CBS plays no formal role in this agreement and cannot be held responsible for any problems or irregularities that may occur between you and your landlord/lady.

When living in private housing, you will pay the first 1½ month's rent and your deposit upon arrival. The dates for the semesters are as follows:

Semester

Dates

Spring Semester

January 19 - June 30

Autum Semester

August 18 - December 31

Please note that the rental agreement can be terminated by either part. Notice must be current month plus 30 days, and always with departure on the last day of the month! For example, if you give notice of termination on 5 September, your agreement is still valid (and you must pay rent) until 31 October.

Rent

Your rent is paid directly to your landlord/lady and the rent is due on the 1st of every month. It is your responsibility to have the correct amount ready for your landlord/lady on this date. You will get a receipt for your payment, which is your only proof of payment, so keep it.

Deposit
Upon arrival you pay a deposit equivalent to one month's rent. The deposit will be refunded prior to your departure, if your room is left in a satisfactory condition and no damage has been done to the inventory.
