When am I told what my address will be in Copenhagen?

  • If you have applied for the Autumn Semester you will receive information about your accommodation in Copenhagen, including a rental agreement, mid July, by email only. All housing information will be sent out to your CBS-email. Your CBS email account will be included in your CBS Registration Package. It is your responsibility to check your CBS-email daily after July 15 and let us know if you have not received your housing information by July 20.
  • If you have applied for the Spring Semester you will receive that information as soon as you accept the allocation.

When can I move into my room?

  • If you are coming for the Autumn Semester, your room will be available from August 14 until December 30.
  • If you are coming for the Spring Semester, your room will be available from January 15 until June 18.

How do I pay?
Please see the section entitled
Prices & Payment. It is of the utmost importance that you bring with you all your receipts from money transfers made prior to your arrival in Copenhagen. Unfortunately, mistakes sometimes happen in the administration process, and it is easier to solve the matter if you have the receipts with you.

Can I receive a discount by paying my total rent for the whole period at once?
No, but remember that you save yourself time, effort and fees if the payment for the whole semester is made on one occasion.

Why didn’t I get my first priority?

  • Since the application is on a first come - first serve basis, you have a better chance to get the room you want the earlier you confirm allocation online. The later you apply, the greater the chance that your first priorities will already be allocated.
  • When you receive the information about your accommodation in Copenhagen, there could be several reasons why you did not get your first priority. Primarily it is due to the fact that there are only a limited number of Student Residences available. Hence, it is impossible to give 120 persons their first priority if they want a room in a residence where we only have 25 rooms.
  • Furthermore, good, centrally located student housing in Copenhagen is VERY expensive and hard to find. Consequently, many of the visiting students at Copenhagen Business School coming in the autumn semester have been provided with a furnished room in a private home. Another very important factor is in which order your application has been received at CBS and whether you applied before the deadline or not (June 1 for Autumn Semester and November 1 for Spring Semester).

Will there be a phone in my residence?
Peder Skramsgade and Teitgen do not have telephones. All other residences do. Please check for further details at the specific residences. There are, however, a few private houses where a phone is not available (except for important calls from family, your home university and CBS), but this will be accounted for in the rent. Therefore, a cellular phone would be a wise thing to have. Most students have a cell phone, anyway, so it is seldom an issue.

How much must I pay in deposit, and when will it be returned?

  • Student Residences: Your deposit is DKK 3000. At the earliest, your deposit will be returned by money transfer to your home bank account 8 weeks after your departure at the end of the semester. Cash refunds prior to your departure are NOT possible.
  • Renting a room in a Private Home: Your deposit is equivalent to one month’s rent and must be paid upon arrival along with the rent for the first 1½ month. Your deposit will be returned before your departure.
  • For all types: Your landlord/lady or the inspector at the residence reserves the right, if necessary, to charge you for bringing the premises back to the standard they were in when you moved in and for cleaning common areas. It is very important that when you leave, you check out with your landlord/lady or the inspector, to avoid any misunderstandings about the repayment of the deposit.

Why do you need my bank account number?
Your deposit will be returned by money transfer after your departure from Denmark. Therefore, it is VERY important that you fill in this data on the bank information form correctly. You must write the name of the account holder, the name and address of the bank, the account number (make sure to get all the numbers for oversees money transfer) and also the international SWIFT-address, and IBAN number. Please note: The Bank Information Form can only be returned by email to bankinfo.intoff@cbs.dk.

What about bed linen?
In the student residences duvets and pillows as well as bed linen and towels are provided in the form of a "Start Package", which contains a duvet, a pillow, sheet and 2 towels. This is included for all residences and the price is included in the prices indicated. The "Start Package" will be in your room upon arrival.

If you will be staying in private housing, feel free to ask your landlady/landlord if they have duvets and pillows available for you to borrow, otherwise you are more than welcome to order a "Start Package". If you are staying in private housing, your must pick up the package at the International Office.

To order a "Start Package" (private housing students only!) please send an email to housing.intoff@cbs.dk no later than January 5 or August 5, depending on the semester you are coming to CBS.

Do I have to buy or bring furniture and kitchen utensils?
All rooms rented out through CBS are fully furnished with a bed, a table, a chair, a closet, lamps etc. The kitchens are equipped with all utensils for cooking and eating. Should there be anything missing, this will be provided upon notice.

Do I have Internet access in my room?
All rooms in Student Residences have access to the Internet. There are many possibilities to connect to the Internet from the CBS buildings and libraries, where your connection is free of charge. Please look for details at each of the specific residences.

What is a shared room?
In a shared room there are two beds in one room, which is why the rent per person is typically lower than for a single room. If your room number is followed by an A or a B, this GENERALLY indicates you will be living in a shared room.
