On Monday October 13, 2014 The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded Tirole the economics Nobel prize and named him as ‘one of the most influential economists of our time’. It is Tirole’s work on market power and regulation as well as his work taming powerful firms that won him the prize.

Just a year ago Jean Tirole from University of Toulouse gave a talk based on the paper ‘Liquid Bundles’ (joint work with Emmanuel Farhi) at the FRIC’13 Conference on Financial Frictions at Copenhagen Business School.
