Social Entrepreneurship

Abstract:

SAP is the third largest software company in the world, with about 75,000 employees and operates in almost 200 countries. In its business, scalability is important, but so is innovation — and sometimes the two can appear to be in conflict. In this talk, Anka Wittenberg, one of the company’s most senior executives, talks about how SAP uses diversity and inclusion to fuel innovation, and to remake scalability and innovation into compatible objectives. She will describe the company’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, which range from gender issues to refugee settlement, to people with autism. SAP is unique among major companies in that it has committed to making 1% of its workforce people with autism by 2020. With the explicit vision to “make the world run better and improve people’s lives,” SAP's bold action in diversity initiatives makes it a pioneer in achieving social objectives that reinforce business success.
