Managerial Decision-Making

Inherent in the task of managers is decision-making in a number of forms. In this course we address some fundamental issues in conceptualising, implementing, and improving managerial decision-making. We consider:
  • the role of managerial decision-making in an organisational context
  • the nature of decision-making as a human and organisational activity
  • rational, political, and other perspectives on the decision-making process
  • challenges in maintaining good managerial decision-making
  • different characteristics of decision-making processes at the operational and strategic level of organisations
  • the distribution of decision-making in organisations
  • the role of decision-making in organisational development.
