A good investment from an employer point of view

NCC has developed a strategy to attract, retain and develop the best employees in the industry.

Though it costs a couple hundred thousand Danish Kroner and several hundred hours of work for a company to send an employee to the EMBA program, it has, in Martin Berg’s case, proved to be profitable for NCC.
“We are very happy with Martin’s work at CBS regarding Bygdirekte,” declares his superior, Michael Brøndum Hansen, director of NCC’s construction technique and purchasing unit with an annual purchase volume of DKK 3.5 billion.
“According to the managing director of NCC, Torben Biilmann, Martin’s project was in fact one of the most operational projects he had ever seen,” says Michael Brøndum Hansen, who finds it only natural for employers to expect some sort of return when they invest in the education of an employee.
“You often see MBA graduates who are not sufficiently challenged in their old organisation and, as a consequence, end up leaving the workplace that paid for their education. So it is only fair that the employer makes demands along the way,” according to Michael Brøndum Hansen, who hopes to keep Martin Berg on board for many years ahead.
“We take great care to continuously challenge our employees, especially the likes of Martin, to make sure they won’t suddenly disappear because their job is not stimulating enough,” his superior explains, calling attention to the strategy NCC has developed in order to attract, retain and develop the best employees in the industry.
“In addition to the specific projects, Martin has managed to introduce new methods and theories from CBS into the organisation,” says Michael Brøndum Hansen, who had no difficulty selecting a project for Martin Berg, when he was asked to develop a new business plan.
“ E-træ & Bygningsartikler was an old limited company that needed a thorough makeover. The timing was perfect for all involved in that Martin was able to apply his training to a specific business area while we could benefit from his results,” Michael Brøndum Hansen concludes.
