Faglige interesser
My key research interest lies within innovation and the co-evolution of technologies, markets and institutions. More specificly the approach pursued takes an 'insider perspective on the making of S-curves', as economic actors are seen as 'sitting on the front of the S-curve' trying to navigate the next steps in a more or less uncertain context. Theoretically I se technologies, markets and institutions as outcomes of organizing processes and not pre-given.
To do this requires a micro- and localized perspective on the complex processes involved in weaving together the actors, different fields of expertise, money, interests and agendas, instruments, legislative devices and classifications that it takes to get technologies, markets and institutions organized. This is not a once and for all thing, but an ongoing process of 'repairing, improving and expanding the conditions for existence' for any technology.
My popular version formulate this as 'the 4M-approach': To make a technology successful you need to mobilize Materials, Money, Meanings and (Wo-)Men.
General theoretical approach: Constructivist theories on the complex dynamics of 'organizing' organizations, institutions, technologies and markets.
