Jeg har igennem en lang årrække forsket i danske virksomheders særlige måde at organisere produktion og samarbejde samt udviklingen heraf. Dette er bl.a. sket i sammenligning med andre landes virksomhedsorganisation, hvor institutionelle og kulturelle forhold har været inddraget for at forstå og forklare forskellighederne og de forskellige landes udviklingsdynamik. I den forbindelse ledte jeg over ti år internationale forskningsprojekter ( EMOT og ESRI) om komparative virksomhedsstudier, modellering af National Business Systems og udviklingen af industrielle distrikter. I de senere år har min forskning fokuseret på multinationale selskaber, hvor især forskellige landes datterselskabers forskel i muligheder for at overleve inden for de multinationale har stået i fokus. I disse år leder jeg en forskningsgruppe, som især koncentrerer sig om, hvordan danske datterselskaber gennem ændringer i arbejdsorganisation, forhandlingsrelationer, på lokale arbejdsmarkeder og ved hjælp fra arbejdsmarkedets parter er i stand til at begå sig i globaliseringen. Gruppens arbejde er finansieret af og indgår i flere sammenhænge, herunder FSE, EU Framework & samt Arbejdsmiljøtilsynet.
