Invitation to PhD defence
Emerging Organizations - In between local translation, institutional logics and discourse
In order to obtain the PhD degree Susanne Boch Waldorff has submitted her PhD thesis.
The thesis explores the efforts to reorganize the provision of health care services following the restructuring of the Danish public sector in 2007. The focus is on the meaning that municipalities used to legitimate a new organizational concept - a health care center. The results indicate that a heterogeneous context facilitated the construction of various local meanings including a traditional focus on disease treatment and a focus on disease prevention and health promotion.
The theoretical core of the dissertation is concerned with the ways in which the emerging health care centres are translated and legitimated by shifting logics and different discursive strategies. The thesis seeks to expand the neo-institutional approach with insights from analyses of translation processes and Critical Discourse Analysis.
