Driving a scenic ride the first stop is at Humlebæk where Louisiana – Museum of Modern Art is situated. For lovers of modern art and architecture Louisiana is a must. Being the most visited museum in Denmark the museum opened in 1958 and it is the mixture of pictorial art, architecture and landscape that gives it such an unique atmosphere.
The museum is set in a park with huge and ancient trees that slopes down the sound. Besides the permanent collection, every year, the Louisiana Museum shows six to eight major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, including classical masters of modern art as well as new and upcoming international artists.

Lunch which will be served at a typical Danish country inn.

After lunch we travel to Frederiksborg Castle. Frederiksborg Castle is situated in the centre of Hillerød on three islets in the Castle Lake surrounded by Frederiksborg Castle Gardens. The castle was built in the Dutch Renaissance style at the beginning of the 17th century by Christian IV, then rebuilt about 250 years later by another great Dane, the brewer J.C. Jacobsen, following its destruction by fire.
The National History Museum at Frederiksborg Castle presents the history of Denmark and its important figures in a significant collection of portraits, historical paintings and modern art. The Castle Chapel survived when the rest of the castle burnt down in 1859 and today it stands as in Christian IV's time.
Frederiksborg Castle Gardens consist of a romantic landscaped garden where one can enjoy the view of Frederik II's small Bath House (Badstueslottet), which is occasionally used by the Royal Family for hunt lunches, and a baroque garden, recreated in 1996 according to studies of J.C. Krieger's gardens from 1725. The garden is especially noteworthy for its four royal monograms executed in boxwood, the historical flowers and the festive cascades.

Also we pass the Queen Margrethe II´s summer residence the beautiful situated Fredensborg Palace.
Fredensborg Palace at Lake Esrum enjoys a special status among Danish palaces as the royal couple's most used residence. The beautiful 18th century baroque palace is often the venue for important official state visits and events in the Royal Family.
The extensive palace and grounds came into being gradually during the 18th century at the hands of the finest Danish architects of the age. It is typical of the French-inspired Baroque style that the palace forms an architectural whole with the surrounding gardens.
Fredensborg Palace Gardens are among Denmark's largest historical gardens. The long, straight avenues which extend from the castle in a star-shaped pattern are a feature of the gardens' original French Baroque style. The avenues were recreated in the 1970s to 1990s as a Danish example of the grand style known from Versailles in Paris. Between the avenues lie large wooded areas with winding pathways from the end of the 18th century when, all baroque gardens were converted to the Romantic style.

The ingredients of this tour are the tough, red-bearded warriors and traders who marauder, conquered and traded with most of maritime western Europe and their descendants, Royal or commoner. Taking the back roads west from Copenhagen past the long barrows near Ledøje, you reach the shallow but sheltered Roskilde Fjord which was a favoured base for the Vikings. Follow the shore of the fjord to Roskilde, where you visit the Viking Ship Museum which houses the remains of 5 Viking ships salvaged from the bed of the fjord and painstakingly preserved.

A short drive to the centre of Roskilde, for a visit to the twin-spied Cathedral: until the early 15th century, Roskilde was the capital of Denmark - proof of its strategic importance in the early Middle Ages - and all Danish monarchs were buried here. Although no longer the capital, Danish Kings and Queens are still laid to rest in Roskilde.
