About CEBR

Background
CEBR was founded by the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs in 1999. In 2005 CEBR was formally established as an independent research centre affiliated with the Copenhagen Business School (CBS).
CEBR activities fall whitin two distinct but closely related categories: Economic research and commercialized policy analysis/consultancy.
CEBR research
In the area of research, CEBR intends to make substantial contributions to policy-relevant research topics, combining theoretical and empirical research. Special emphasis is devoted to bridging the gap between economic research and its policy applications through the dissemination of high-quality research-based policy analyses.
CEBR pursues an independent research agenda, and its researchers enjoy full methodological freedom. The research is based on active co-operation with domestic and foreign scholars. CEBR research areas include:
Economics:
  • Growth and productivity
  • Social security and taxation
  • Globalisation and European integration
  • Research and education
  • Experimental economics
Business:
  • Corporate governance
  • Business and politics
  • Innovation and patents
  • Enterpreneurship and venture capital
CEBR strives to maintain a high research profile in Denmark as well as internationally, through publications in leading scientific journals within its core research areas.
CEBR consultancy
CEBR consultancy specializes in applying advanced quantitative methods and economic theory to programme and policy evaluations. Focus is on providing the highest value in the design, execution, and interpretation of evaluations in both regulatory and business settings.
Given the often complicated nature of the methods and calculations involved, CEBR devotes considerable attention to ensuring that all communication is clear and to the point. The CEBR areas of expertise range from ensuring that appropriate information is collected and relevant monitoring is put in place before the programme/policy is initiated to analysing and interpreting the available information after a programme/policy has been executed.
All CEBR consultants hold a PhD in economics and have experience from both the public and the private sector. Special areas of expertise include:
  • Economic analyses of welfare state policies and challenges
  • Evaluation and analysis of research policies
  • Evaluation related to ageing and health issues
This unique and very strong background enables CEBR consultants to find solutions to practical problems and produce new insights and knowledge. Simultaneously, the insistence on explaining and presenting complex issues in simple, common sense terms increases the potential impact and significance of the evaluations and/or analyses.
To ensure that CEBR provide the highest value, in-house economic researchers are included as advisors and guarantors of quality in all projects. The researchers participate in the projects from the planning phase all the way through to the final product and will ensure that all analyses are based on the latest knowledge and insights as well as the best and most appropriate methods.
