The Socio-Economic Organization of Creative Industries
Creative Encounters seeks to explore the socio-economic organization of creative industries in a global context and focuses in particular on three sectors that are of some importance in Denmark: (a) Fashion and Luxury; (b) Film and Media; and (c) Place Branding, Art and Culture.
The aim of the research programme is to uncover the complex interplay between economic and cultural forces that characterises work practices, professions, organizations, and industries. To this end, Creative Encounters will engage in knowledge-producing partnerships with a broad range of business and educational organizations located both in Denmark and abroad.

Kunst, Kompetence og Konkurrenceevne i den danske oplevelsesøkonomi

I forbindelse med Tuborgfondets 75 års jubilæum tager fondet et fælles initiativ med Copenhagen Business School til at fremme den danske oplevelsesøkonomi. Tuborgfondet bevilliger 6,2 mio. kr. til forskningsprojektet Kunst, Kompetence, og Konkurrenceevne i Den danske oplevelsesøkonomi. Projektet er det første af sin art i Danmark og omfatter en kortlægning af den danske oplevelsesøkonomi, en undersøgelse af barriererne for vækst, samt udvikling af fremtidige ledelsesværktøjer. Det udføres i tæt samarbejde med erhvervslivet og gennemføres ved CBS forskningscenter imagine.. Creative Industries Research. Projektet forløber over en 3-årig periode.
Forskningen omfatter:
  • Kortlægning af brancherne musik, film, design, computerspil, mode,
    media og events/turisme/sport samt synergi mellem brancherne
  • Udvikling af et systematisk billede af dansk oplevelsesøkonomi fra en
    erhvervsøkonomisk synsvinkel
  • Kvantitative og kvalitative definitioner af oplevelsesøkonomi og af det
    danske særpræg
  • Udvikling af ledelsesværktøjer og politiske handlingsperspektiver, der
    har direkte erhvervsrelevans

CINEMA - Project

‘CINEMA – Organising and Managing Creative Enterprises’ is a research project concerned with the study of the film industry and the process of making films, studying how innovative, high framework filmmakers organise, manage and combine creativity with commercial interests.
The joint research project involves Jesper Strandgaard, Per Darmer, Chris Mathieu, Sara Malou Strandvad (PhD student) and Jesper Thomas Schlamovitz (PhD student).

Capital Meets Creativity

Center for Intellectual Property Studies (CIP) has together with Film i Väst, Lillehammer Kunnskapspark, Lillehammer University College, Copenhagen Business School (CBS), IceTec and Cimfunds entered into a collaboration regarding the development of an educational tool. This cooperation is part of a larger project called “Capital Meets Creativity” which was initiated by the parties due to the realization that the creative industries were facing a number of challenges when it came to the ability to capitalize on the creative efforts and to attract investments to the same.

Hovedstadens Kreative Kapital

Den Kreative Klasse kortlægges i Danmark
Begrebet den Kreative Klasse er voldsomt hypet internationalt. I USA rangerer storbyer sig efter de indekser, som Richard Flordida - amerikansk professor i regionaløkonomisk udvikling og ophavsmand til begrebet den Kreative Klasse - har udviklet. I Danmark inspirerede han Det Radikale Venstre til den største valgsejr i 30 år og hans tanker har vakt genklang i samfundsdebatten og vakt til kritisk stillingtagen til begrebet og de værdier, der her præsenteres.
Men kan man tale om den Kreative Klasse i Danmark? Hvordan kortlægger man en sådan? Og har begrebet en relevans i dansk sammenhæng?
I det danske forskningsprojekt "Teknologi, Talent og Tolerance" afprøves eksistensen af en kreativ klasse i Danmark. Resulaterne sammenlignes senere med kortlægninger i 6 europæiske lande. Med en tilsvarende statistisk analyse i Danmark bliver det muligt at vurdere om de samme dynamikker gør sig gældende her som i USA - altså om tesen om at en stor koncentration af kreative mennesker virker tiltrækkende og medfører, at virksomheder i højere grad lokaliserer sig efter den Kreative Klasse i storbyerne.

Technology, Talent and Tolerance in European cities: A comparative Analysis

The project is the Danish part of a major European study, testing and expanding upon Richard Florida’s thesis on the interrrelatedness of hi-tech based economic growth (”Technology”), location of highly-skilled labor (”Talent”) and particular urban qualities of diversity and openness (”Tolerance”). The study assesses the quality of place of major cities in seven European countries, and compares the quality of place of the cities across Europe.
Profiting from the unique availability of Danish labor market data, the Danish project also addresses a complementary research question of whether the Danish geographical distribution of technology, talent and tolerance differs from other European (as well as North American) national contexts. Are the largest Danish cities, like the largest North American cities, relatively over-endowed with technology, talent and tolerance, or is the Danish pattern of economic activity and technology, talent and tolerance more evenly distributed among cities, suggesting a more hierarchical ranking of cities that may be ascribed to particular Danish regional distribution and welfare policies?
