Forskningsprofil

Research at CBS Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility represents neither a specific theoretical perspective nor a specific normative message. The basis for research at the centre is, in other words, multidisciplinary. The research group consists of a cross-disciplinary body of researchers, and we regard it as a strength and also a challenge to perceive and approach the field of study from different theoretical perspectives, including philosophy, sociology, anthropology, business economics, organization theory, and discourse analysis.
Research at the Centre focuses on modern organizations (private, public, and volunteer) and their relations to the surrounding society by establishing several analytical levels: internal organizational matters (the employee in the organization) and the interface between the organization and the public (the organization in society). The Centre's work is based on a notion of methodological plurality.
cbsCSR Research Seminars
cbsCSR's concurrent Brown Bag Research Seminars are a way to draw together research within the field of Business and Society across academic departments and thus to encourage more interdisciplinary research collaboration. cbsCSR's Brown Bag Seminars last approx. 1½ hours at a time and have been running since 2006. The seminars take place approx. once every month, but please check our event calendar for updates.
We have chosen the title of “Business in Society” with the aim to encompass a broad number of possible topics. Although we would like to leave the definition of CBS2 open to the input from interested faculty we would like to see contributions from at least the following fields:
  • Corporate Governance
  • Management of Philanthropic Foundations
  • Non-profit Management
  • Data Privacy Issues
  • Social Entrepreneurship
  • Sustainable Development
  • Environmental Management
  • Business Ethics
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
At each seminar one or several researchers from cbsCSR or beyond present their ongoing academic work, most often in the form of a draft paper. Presenters should be from different departments and each paper should, furthermore, be reviewed and commented upon by a discussant, who again should not be from the same department as the presenter. It is encouraged that full papers are made available to the group a week before to the meeting.

cbsCSR has published a report documenting the Centre's activities from 2002-2007. The report can be downloaded here: CBS CSR aarsapport 2007
