Peter D. Ørberg Jensens forskningsinteresser drejer sig overordnet om markedsintegrationen i den internationale økonomi på tværs af landegrænser, om virksomheders globale sourcing af aktiviteter i lyset af denne markedsintegration, samt om virksomhedernes reorganisation af forretningsaktiviteter i gensidigt afhængige og globale værdikæder.
Peter har arbejdet for konsulentfirmaet RAMBØLL Management i tidsrummet 1992-96 og igen fra 1999-2005. I perioden 1996-99 arbejdede han for FN's udviklingsprogram, UNDP, hvor hans ansvarsområder omfattede udviklingen af samarbejdsrelationer mellem FN-systemet og multinationale selskaber og erhvervsudvikling i udviklingslande.
Hans forskning er publiceret internationalt og han bidrager som academic reviewer til Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, Management International Review, Strategic Outsourcing Journal, Academy of International Business, og European Academy of International Business.
