My PhD project explores social dynamics which unfold in the context of strategic visions in organizations. How do managers work with strategic visions? How do organizational members relate to strategic visions? I seek to apply the sociology of Gabriel Tarde to organization and management studies. I mainly work with Tarde’s idea of imitation as essence of sociality and his monadology. I investigate strategic visions as management devices inspired by the ANT notion of market devices and ask whether strategic visions create performativity through imitation and differing repetition. I intend to conduct field work in companies. The working title is ‘How people manage with strategic visions – exploring imitative dynamics’.
