Christer Ljungwall is a China expert specializing on growth, institutions, regional development, financial stability and the banking system in China. He also
covers these issues in both India and Mongolia. From 2004 to 2009, Christer was a research fellow at the prestigious China Center for Economic Research at Peking University. Most recently, Christer was Sr. Country Economist at ADB in Mongolia, where he also acted as the bank’s resource on issues pertaining to China. Christer does strategic consultancy work for governments, private institutions, and IFI:s. Christer is adviser to the Mongolian government and is participating as international adviser at several Chinese think tanks. He is also adviser at East Capital, a leading assets management firm in Sweden.
Dr. Ljungwall publishes academic and popular scientific articles and has authored two books. He is often quoted in Chinese and Swedish media. Christer has a Ph. in economics from the University of Gothenburg, and in a previous role at the Stockholm School of Economics, he was involved in the founding of the China Economic Research Center.
