Department of Economics seminar series
1: An attempt is made at having one seminar each week on Mondays at 1-2 p.m. The seminar lasts 60 minutes including questions and discussions. The seminar room will be available for further discussions after the seminar.
2: External speakers should present work of general interest for department members. It is expected that faculty members participate in seminars if not travelling. Abstract and papers should be available at the latest one week before the seminar.
3: We have a limited budget to cover travel and accommodation expenditures. Please consider pooling of seminars/meetings and possible cost sharing with other institutions, especially for overseas seminar speakers.
4: Each member of the faculty is expected to suggest at least one speaker per academic year. Invitations to external speakers should be extended by, or agreed with, the organizers: Cédric Schneider and/or Battista Severgnini.
5: If you have invited an external speaker, you are expected to 1) upload the presentation in advance of the seminar, 2) be present at the seminar and introduce the speaker, 3) organize bilateral meetings with faculty and 4) to participate in and arrange the social events (e.g. dinner after the seminar).
6: Seminar dinner: There is a budget of max 600dkk/person. The maximum number of participants is 4 including the host. According to CBS rules half a bottle of wine per person is allowed, no spirits.
7. Practical support: The department secretary sends out invitations, orders hotel, reserves guest office, makes sure there is water and biscuits at the meeting, and leaves one copy of the paper in the meeting room. Typically the hotel is booked for 2 nights, if there are other needs please contact the organizers.
8: There are no rules without exceptions -- but exceptions should be negotiated with the organizers.
