Background
Edward Ashbee has worked for the University of Southampton, Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University), and the Open University in the United Kingdom. He has written extensively about US political processes, elections, interest groups, and public opinion. His books include The US Economy Today (Manchester University Press), The Bush Administration, Sex and the Moral Agenda and US Politics Today, (Manchester University Press). He co-edited The Politics, Economics, and Culture of Mexican-US Migration: Both Sides of the Border (Palgrave Macmillan). He has had articles published in journals such as Parliamentary Affairs, The Political Quarterly and Society.
Current work
His work now concentrates on political economy and economic policymaking in both the US and Britain. He is looking at reactions to the economic crisis in both countries and writing a comparative study of the “Anglo-Saxon model” and the liberal market economies.
Teaching
His teaching includes survey courses on the US political process, US economic history, and comparative (US and Europe) political economy.
Research supervision
He welcomes applications or informal enquiries about graduate research supervision. He has supervised many MA dissertations / specialer and is an experienced Ph.d. examiner (University of Copenhagen).
Media
He undertakes frequent media interviews about both British and US politics and has appeared on TV2 News, DR2 (Deadline), DR2 Udland, DR1 Nyhederne, DR P1 and the BBC World Service. His commentaries have been published in Politiken and Weekendavisen.
