The Department of Business and Politics is an interdisciplinary department conducting research on a number of themes located at the interface between the world of business and the world of national and international politics. Its innovative character draws on its unique combination of focus and disciplines, its integration in a business school, and its cutting-edge position in the areas of comparative political economy and international political economy.
 
Research Organization
The department employs approximately 50 full-time researchers, including 15 PhD candidates. In addition, it has a specific number of visiting professors working on a part-time basis, representing the best of international research. A significant number of guest scholars visit the department every year, spending their research sabbatical time with us. Moreover, a number of adjunct professors from the business world and political institutions are also associated to the department.
The department is very internationalized, employing researchers from approximately 10 different nationalities. It has, therefore, a vibrant scholarly community of young and consolidated researchers, with strong international ties. Moreover, since its creation the department has developed a large number of international research collaboration agreements, exemplified by many international research projects funded externally and the friendly partnerships of our research school with leading universities around the world.

Research Positioning and Dissemination
The department aims to continue its cutting-edge research position in the research themes mentioned above, putting special emphasis on contributing to the theoretical development on each of these areas, as well as producing novel empirical findings. Both aspects aim at advancing scientific knowledge on different dimensions of the interface between business and politics.  With this purpose in mind, the department aims to continually strengthen its competences in a wide variety of research methods.
Last but not least, the department is fully committed to producing research results that have social relevance and are responsive to societal needs. In this regard, the researchers of the department are engaged in a dialogue with the society and business on matters of research relevance, and they seek to disseminate research results in the widest possible way.
