My research project focuses on undocumented youth ages 16 – 24 living in the United States. I am particularly focused on youth of Latin American origin and their access to higher educational opportunities as a human right and the gateway to the attainment of other human rights. Thus, research focuses on youth who are currently pursuing, want to pursue or are recently graduated from universities, community colleges and vocational schools. I employ ethnographic and qualitative research methods and cultural theories such as power and various identity discourses. The project will research the everyday rights issues and practices of the youth via a social, legal, cultural, historical, political and economic context as it examines immigration & immigration reform, higher education and human rights in the United States.
