Priscilla Solano new PhD fellow at the Center

The Center has been joined by Priscilla Solano as a PhD fellow from October 1st. Her research project aims at unpacking the dynamics and construction of the politics of the securitization of migration in relation to Northern and Southern Mexican borders, its political mobilization and public views. Her research will focus on uncovering the complex discursive processes opposing security to movement, problematising both the construction of categories out of such relationships and the securitisation of migration politics respect North/South borders, from a human rights perspective. Her primary research interests span: irregular migration, governance, human trafficking, securitisation regimes, discursive formations of the ‘Other’ and urban marginality; Latin America (Mexico and Central America).
The PhD scholarship has been funded by the Danish Agency for Science, Techology and Innovation.
