CHI 2009 Best Paper Nomination for CAICT Assistant Professor Ravi Vatrapu

A paper co-authored by Dr. Marc Le Pape of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA and Dr. Ravi Vatrapu, assistant professor at CAICT, was given a best paper nomination at the Association for Computing Machinery’s prestigious CHI 2009 conference (

).
According to the CHI conference, “The SIGCHI “Best of CHI” awards honor exceptional submissions
to SIGCHI sponsored conferences. The CHI Papers and Notes committees nominate up to 5% of their submissions as Award Nominees. Separate awards committees then choose no more than 1% of the total submissions to receive a “Best” designation.”
The paper reports an experimental study that investigated the effects of _Gz accelerations and
field dependency independency on human performance in the completion of perceptual motor tasks on a personal digital assistant (PDA).
