E-Commerce in Japan

Japan has become one of the leaders in adopting e-commerce in business transactions; however, this was not the case just a short 12 years ago. Using the convenience store 7-11 as a case study, Professor Dennis Tachiki will discuss why Japan was initially a laggard in the diffusion of e-commerce technologies and business models and what changes in policy and business strategies occurred over the past decade to get Japan "online."
Dennis Tachiki is Professor in Economic Sociology at Tamagawa University, Japan.
Arranged by the Asia Research Centre.
