Diffusion and adoption of Advanced Mobile Services

In theories of diffusion and adoption of information technologies, it is a common assumption that adopters of an innovation can be divided into categories that describe the adopters' willingness and ability to adopt the technology. However, recently, the effect of networks has gained attention as technological advances have become part of most consumers' everyday-life. My PhD project sets out to investigate the network effects of diffusion and adoption of advanced mobile services and explain why some modern technologies become a success while others do not. I suggest that as the installed base of mobile users grows and a critical mass is reached, the interactive innovation is thereafter perceived as valuable by potential adopters, as the value of additional users create even greater synergy, and the diffusion becomes a success. Consequently, this project presumes that traditional theories of diffusion can explain the reaction patterns of mobile users' reaction towards the use of mobile services better by the integration of network theory.

The main issues are country choice and entry mode choice; however more issues, such as the speed of internationalization and the influence of network effects, will be explored. The research will include several industries, such as e-banking, e-commerce, Internet telephony, media firms, etc., including both Digital Information Goods (DIG) providers and companies with a bricks-and-clicks business model (companies offering both physical and digital goods/services).

Culturel Usability Project

This project's aim is to investigate the impact of culture om thinking aloud usability testing. It involves two phases, field study and experiment. In the field study, it focuses om investigating the cultural specifics that go into usability test situations in three countries; Denmark, India and China. In the experiment phase, it mainly focuses on investigating how foreign and local evaluators conduct usability testing with Danish and Chinese users in order to find relevant usability problems. From this project, we hope to give some inspirations on how to develope the usability testing technigue for both Western Countries and East Asian countries with both foreign evaluators and local evaluators.

Structure in action - a case study on how it-entrepreneurs act to benefit from network structures

This study tries to bring actions and actors back into the theory of network structures. Through an in-dept through case-study of more than 3000 interactions of an it-entrepreneur over a year, patterns of actions, their connections and interdependencies are determined, and parred against beneficialitis to the it-entrepreneur.

A multiple case study approach will be used to explore how the leadership style of top managers has been influencing the lean implementation within this selected group of companies. The idea is to recognize the areas characterized by major problems and difficulties and to recommend a conceptual definition of leadership which takes into account the integrated nature of lean systems.

Process Innovation in Supply Chains

The project addresses new ways to innovative processes in supply chain relations, i.e. new initiatives to create shorter lead-time, reduce cost and at the same time improve responsiveness, service and value for the supply chain's customers. From practice, researche has picked up several best practice cases of supply chain management that can be regarded as innovative ways to design a supply chain. However, we know very little of the actual processes of innovation occurring in these supply chains; hence, a central concern for this project. The project is done through the application of complexity theory and qualitative case-studies.

Strategic Risk Management in the perspectives of knowledge and value creation

The project explores perspectives of contemporary risk management activities in relation to strategy information and strategy execution. The research seeks to identify how companies attempt to collect, create and communicate risk relevant knowledge to decision-makers and to what extent and how decision-makers utilise such knowledge when dealing with important decisions under uncertainty. It thus takes a decision-linked stance, with a focus on the impact from implicit and explicit planning assumptions, and also explores how the identification of potential future developments may impact the achievement of organisational objectives

Lean construction is a set of ideas on how to control and coordinate the building process. This project proposes that a number of premises in Lean construction are internally conflicting and vague leaving managers with several dilemmas in their work with Lean implementation. The project also considers the influence of the underlying piece rate system on the practical formation of the Lean idea.

Process Value Management - sammenhængskraft og fleksibilitet

Dette projekt fortsætter, hvor det tidligere projekt 'Process Value Management' slap. Projektet har til formål at finde anvisninger, metoder og værktøjer der sikrer, at man bl.a. kan undgå en række af de problemstillinger, som det tidligere projekt afdækkede. Vi arbejder med den hypotese, at et effektivt metodeapparat kan etableres ved at se organisationerne som løst koblede systemer, reformulere det traditionelle procesperspektiv i overensstemmelse hermed og ved at inddrage en række eksplorative værktøjer i procesarbejdet fra nyere koncepter og arbejdsformer som Open Space, Serious Play, transformationsledelse, selvorganisering etc.
