PhD Programme in the studies of culture, communication and modern languages
The PhD programme is a three-year research programme which provides qualifications for a career within research and teaching at an institution of higher education or for specialist/consultant positions within the business sector.
The programme welcomes applications from all candidates who, at the time of the application, have a Master's degree in a subject relevant to the study specialisations listed below.
The departments for International Language Studies and Computational Linguistics and International Culture and Communication Studies offer four specialisations:
1. Foreign Languages, Linguistics and Translation
2. Computational Linguistics
3. Communication Studies
4. European Studies and American Studies
1. Specialisation. Research within spoken and written foreign languages - often compared to Danish - including lexicology, lexicography , translation, interpretation, foreign language pedagogy and language policy. The foreign languages are: English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
2. Specialisation. Research within computational linguistics, including linguistics, mathematical logic, computer science, computational terminologi, LSP data modelling and language informatics.
3. Specialisation. Research within communication studies,including including linguistic aspects of business and market communication, thetoric and semiotics.
4. Specialisation: European Studies, particularly cross-disciplinary and comparative issues within the fields of politics and economics and American Studies, including political, economic, social or cultural issues in the Western Hemisphere. Particular attention is paid to cross-disciplinary topics and projects involving issues relevant to both the USA and Latin America.
