PhD programme in commercial law
The PhD. programme at the department of Law focuses on commercial law, i.e. the part to of the legal system that pertains to business. Research is characterised by taking its point of departure in actual firm problems and sometime judicial perspectives are combined with economic perspectives.
The judicial research differs from economic research through being attached to the language in the legal system to which it pertains. Despite the fact that non-Danish laws has increased in significance within commercial law, a big part of research in commercial law still focus on the Danish judicial system. The trend towards increased international influence on the judicial system has increased the relevance and interest in publication of research about Danish and comparative law in other languages than Danish.
National and international research cooperation
The Law Department is part of a cooperative network between the PhD Schools in Law at Aarhus University, University of Copenhagen, Aalborg University and the University of Southern Denmark. The purpose of the network is to offer PhD students a wide variety of legal courses. The network publishes a 2 year course program that makes it easier for PhD students to plan a course of study that fits with their work. As part of this network, the Law Department offers the following 2 PhD courses (both in Danish): “Law and Economics” and “EU-retlig teori, metode og praksis”.
