Ana Alacovska: Travel Guidebooks in Socio-economic Perspective
The PhD research project deals with the travel guidebook publishing industry at the intersection of print and digital cultures.
The main aim of the research is to investigate and examine the actual processes of travel guidebook production and consumption, as a model and a distinct case of digitalization in media/creative/cultural industries. Trying to bring in a fertile dialogue social sciences and humanities, it has been striven to argue for the necessity of historicity and ontology of travel guidebook genre to account for micro-social interactions of textual production/consumption and for macro-structure of industry’s organisation and labour relations in the face of technological affordances
