This study is primarily concerned with understanding how we think about the way organizational factors connect in innovation projects over time.

My analytical interest in exploring dynamic processes of organizing for innovation has lead me to a theoretical position that privilege mutually dependent sociomaterial ensembles over discrete entities of what is either social or material features. This position my study in line with recent years theoretical move towards sociomaterial studies, arguing attention should be given to examining how materiality is intrinsic to human activities and relations; and how technology/materiality is constitutive of both activities and identity. Also, my analytical interest has lead me to engage, through a literature review, in the theoretical debate discussing approaches to innovation through control versus non-controlled project management processes.

The study build on empirical innovation research on Think, a Norwegian electrical car manufacturer, who through its long innovation journey, in an industry that is barely coming about, has transformed and redefined itself through ongoing interactions. Think aim to change the way people think about cars and with their electrical and fully recyclable vehicle they play a part in the transformation to clean and environmentally friendlier mobility.

I explore through which processes technological development at Think is given direction and property, and observe how collaborative networks transform as the materializing-innovation implicitly take part in forming dynamic partner ensembles. My focus is here on three distinct cases; what plays out around the battery, the headlights and the front seat of the car, the Think City. Interviews, presentations, photos and observations are main parts of my data.

The aim is to present the study in the form of a monograph and deliver grounds for a Post-Doc project.
