Aim of the course
Editing is an important part of the writing process. The CBS Research as a Second Language (RSL) writing workshops intend to give you a sense of the deep potential of editing by focusing on small written samples, submitted by participants. The workshops are run by Thomas Basbøll, who is the doctoral school’s resident writing consultant and who has a broad base of experience as an editor of academic texts.
The idea is not to criticise what a writer is trying to say, but to discover ways of saying it more effectively. Along the way, such work also offers opportunities to review basic rules of grammar and elements of style. These workshops are an ideal opportunity to improve both your academic English and your general writing skills.
There will be sixteen two hour workshops each semester, to be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 13:00 to 15:00 every other week starting on August 27. Participants are expected to attend at least 12 workshops.
