Event: Netweaving – Results through Relations
The consultancy agency PS4
is hosting a yearly netweaving event in collaboration with Tivoli, Toruplund, and Jyllandsposten. This year’s netweaving event is about giving – what, when, and why do you give? The topic refers to the law of karma and believing that what you give will return to yourself later in some manner. Focusing on interaction and network activities, the event aims at inspiring and providing the participants with tools for mapping and creating valuable networks.
All participants get a CD containing Børsen’s Handbooks on Leadership for free (value 4000 DKK).
The event will take place on 26th November 2008 from 14:00-18:00 at Tivoli Concert Hall (Koncertsalen). CBS Alumni members can participate for merely 695 DKK, standard price is 995 DKK.

Conference on Organizational Symbolism in Malmö & Copenhagen
The symbol of the bridge has a long and complex genealogy in European social theory and serves as a powerful metaphor in organization studies. In keeping with the bridge theme, CBS with assistance from the Department of Urban Studies, Malmö Högskola will be hosting the 27th Standing Conference on Organizational Symbolism in Denmark (Copenhagen) and Sweden (Malmö).
Participants will have the opportunity of sending an abstract about all organizational aspects and organizing which connect different types of knowledge and realities, disciplines, geographies, cultures, academia and practice, ‘mainstream’ and ‘critical’ and so on. But the number of associations attached to bridges and bridging is limitless – thus potential themes are limited only by imagination. The abstracts should not exceed 500 words in Word format and should be submitted as e-mail attachments by Friday 6th December 2008 to: scos2009@gmail.com. The conference will take place at CBS and Malmö University 8th-11th June 2009. Registration deadline is 6th December 2009.

Inside CBS: New Broadcast Series on the Web Radio “Den 2. Radio”
Copenhagen Business School and the new web radio “Den 2. Radio” are jointly collaborating on a series of 20 broadcasts focusing on CBS called “Inside CBS”.
So far three broadcasts have been aired. The first broadcast featured University Director Peter Pietras and Dean of Research Alan Irwin, who shared their thoughts on the university’s visions and practices. The second broadcast was about research in Asia, particularly focusing on China, explained by Professor Kjeld Erik Brødsgaard. The third broadcast featured Professor Peter Møllgaard, Head of Department of Economics, who talked about the department’s recent research and current financial crisis.
- “ This is a unique opportunity to disseminate our knowledge, and with 20 transmissions we are able to provide valuable insight regarding CBS’ many research areas. The in-depth program provides the listeners with a different and additional approach to some of the stories often covered in short newsbreaks, for instance the financial crisis and the economic development in Asia”, University Director Peter Pietras said.
Open University (HD programs)
In the new decree regulating the HD programs, which is a four year part-time program, it has been clarified that HD is now recognized as a ‘Graduate Diploma of Business Administration’ and corresponds to a Bachelor’s degree.
HD consists of two parts. The first part provides a general introduction to business disciplines and the second part offers several specialized programs.
These programs date back before the World War II and can be regarded as the root of CBS. Before CBS detained its university status, employees in the private sector went to the business school in the evening to learn ‘modern languages’ and ‘commercial calculations’. Today, it serves as the point of entry to schools of higher education for young people being employed without a university education in the Social Sciences.
Finally we see HD as a useful step for graduates, who are aiming at a Master’s degree, such as MBA for general management or one of the other specialized Master’s.

Shipping Companies Support New CBS Maritime Research Centre
The newly established CBS Centre for Shipping Economics and Innovation has just received 500,000 DKK from the family foundation DS Orient’s Foundation, with close and historical relations to the shipping company Norden and JL Foundation sole shareholder and parent company of shipping companies J. Lauritzen and DFDS.
The aim of the project is, over a period of three years, to build up a dynamic cluster database of chosen financial indicators for the period from 1970 up to now in order to obtain a representative selection of Blue Denmark.

Book: Internet Law
“Internetretten”
This new book in Danish is a result of collaboration between the legal environments at CBS, University of Aarhus and Aalborg University. It focuses on judicial key areas that are relevant to the Internet, including electronic commerce.
“Internetretten” is suitable for both lawyers and practitioners wishing a general introduction to the topic. The book is organized as a textbook, which can also be read by non-laymen. Records, cross-references and footnotes are also suitable as a reference book for lawyers dealing with Internet law.

Book: The European Screw – Democratic Dynamics in Denmark and Sweden
”Den Europæiske Skrue - Demokratisk dynamik i Danmark og Sverige”
The book is the last step after many years of analyzing consequences of European integration in the Nordic countries. It is part of a project launched in 1992. From start to finish, the intent of the book was to investigate the management of political change in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Professor Ove K. Pedersen and Assistant Professor, Ph.D. Tore V. Olsen (both International Center for Business and Politics) are authors of the book printed at DJØF's Publishing.
