1.3 Million DKK for New Innovation Projects- Students and Small and Middle-sized Companies are to Create Innovation
CBS Connect has received 1.315.000 DKK from the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation for a number of innovation projects. For instance, 30 partnerships between students and small and middle-sized knowledge intensive companies will be established.
Based on the companies’ specific needs, the students will be contributing their analytical inputs and creative ideas. The goal is that, after a year, the companies will have achieved a more innovative approach, such as new business processes, new products, services, or concepts.
“The students will bring new tools into the companies, and they see things differently. (…)They will learn to transform creative ideas into innovative solutions that will create a better bottom line for the company,” Director of CBS Connect Mette Reebirk states.
The first partnerships will begin in September, and each partnership will be associated with an adviser from CBS.
Do you want to co-create innovation in your small or middle-sized company? Please
contact Mette Reebirk for further information.
Guest Lecture by Klaus Rifbjerg: View on My Authorship
On Thursday 7 February from 14:30-16:00, Adjunct Professor Klaus Rifbjerg will talk about his authorship, what inspires him, and what drives him.
“The range is extremely wide, but the crux of the matter is that you write to keep yourself awake and by doing so – maybe – waking others. You write because you can not contain it - both when it is a desire and when it is a curse. And I have not even mentioned the vanity, and the ambition, and the inspiration, which are also important factors, of course…”.
Meet one of Danish literature’s greatest personalities talking about his work.
The guest lecture takes place at CBS, Dalgas Have 15, room SØ.071.
CBS Closes Down Interpretation and Translation Programmes
Foreign languages, together with knowledge on market conditions and cultural differences, have for a long time been some of CBS’ core competences. Nevertheless, the decreasing number of applicants for some of the language programmes means that it is no longer possible to maintain the quality of the programmes.
At an extraordinary board meeting on Friday 18 January 2008, the board decided to close down the interpretation and translation programmes in all languages except English. The decision means that, from 2008, it will no longer be possible to be admitted to a programme at CBS that provides authorisation as an interpreter and translator in Spanish, German, French, Russian, and Italian. At the moment, CBS is the only university in Denmark that offers interpretation and translation programmes in Russian and Italian. CBS is now planning a radical innovation of foreign knowledge in new language programmes.
New Book from CBS Press: The Virtue of Leadership
By Ole Fogh Kirkeby.
Managers have stopped being leaders. This might be because they don't quite understand what that task implies, but their resistance to the burden of leadership may also stem from a deeper source, namely their inability to see the point of leadership. "What good is leadership?" managers might well ask, and when we look around today's organizations, we can't really blame them. This book is nonetheless an attempt to change this attitude. It is an attempt, first, to argue for the idea of leadership as such and, next, to provide a sense of the particular qualities of a good leader. It is about both the virtue and the virtues of leadership.

New Book from CBS Press: The Anatomy of Change- A Neo-Institutionalist Perspective
Edited by Steen Scheuer & John Scheuer.
Globalisation, the new economy, and the IT revolution are some of the words used when researchers, as well as practitioners, try to explain the seemingly ever-increasing speed of change in contemporary society. Whatever the label, organisations today are facing change in a host of different ways.
The analyses presented in this volume provide ample evidence of, how the perspective of new institutionalism can help us understand the anatomy of change, and how some actors avoid complete stasis the the utilisation of small openings instead of breaking down the whole wall.

New Book from CBS Press: Women Entrepreneurship and Social Capital - A Dialogue and Construction
Edited by Iiris Aaltio, Paula Kyrö, and Elisabeth Sundin.
This book explores social capital as the multiple relationships between gender, management and entrepreneurship. Human resources are the social capital of a company and business life, based on trust as well as on expertise, values and cultural diversity. This calls for cross-cultural knowledge and an understanding of gender issues and individual differences in the social capital of the company and society.
The dialogue between women entrepreneurship, social capital theory and research strengthens in some respect the fragmented voice of women entrepreneurship research by providing a landscape of women entrepreneurs as creators of, and created by, social capital. It indicates how women entrepreneurs appear to have a special position in forming, developing and reorganising the social capital in the business world.
